AMBOSS Research Panel – FAQ

What is the AMBOSS Research Panel?

The AMBOSS Research Panel is a pool of medical students and physicians, who are interested in talking to us about their daily experiences, and sometimes test new product features.

What kind of people are you looking for?

We’re interested in talking to physicians and medical students from all over the world. The world of medicine is very diverse, and we want to hear a wide variety of voices and experiences.

You don’t need to be an AMBOSS user to join our Research Panel.

What would I do in the different types of user research projects?

While there are many types of user research, we will mostly reach out to you with theses types of studies:

  • Interviews (via videocall or over the phone) – we’ll set up a chat with you via Zoom (or some other online tool) and ask you some questions about your experience of being a medical student or of working as a physician.
  • Surveys – You’ll receive an email asking you to answer some questions related to the AMBOSS product or your experiences.
  • Remote usability studies – we’ll set up a chat with you via Zoom (or some other online tool) in which we’ll share screens and discuss the usability, usefulness, and desirability of features we’re considering.

For any study you’re invited to you’ll receive an email outlining how it will work and what your involvement will be. Participation in any study is completely voluntary and doesn’t affect future opportunities.

What's in it for me?

First, our gratitude for helping us build a product that helps doctors around the world.

If you are an AMBOSS user yourself, you also benefit directly from providing us with feedback that will help us build a better product, and you may be the first to know about and try out new features we are considering.

Once your participation is complete, you’ll get a small thank-you like a gift card or a donation to your favourite charity. We will always tell you what the reward will be when we invite you to participate.

How soon and how often will you contact me?

When we begin a new project, we contact people who may be a match for the topic we’re interested in, based on what we know about you (from the form you filled in, or from the information you entered on AMBOSS).

It could be quite a while before you hear from us, and it’s possible that we don’t end up reaching out to you. That doesn’t mean we don’t value your opinion, it just means we haven’t found the right project.

You decide how frequently we invite you to projects, by letting us know during the sign-up process to the Research Panel.
The options for how often we can contact you are:

  • Anytime we have a question
  • Up to 10 times a year
  • Up to 4 times a year
  • Up to 2 times a year
  • Once a year

You can update the frequency by clicking the link at the end of every invitation email. Alternatively, you can email us at research@amboss.com.

What's the time commitment?

The time commitment for each research project can vary depending on the type of study. Completing a survey might take just a few minutes and can be done anywhere at any time, while taking part in an interview or usability study might take 30min to 1.5h and require you to be in a relatively calm and distraction-free environment.

For any study you’re invited to, you’ll receive an email outlining how it will work and what your involvement would be. Participation in any study is completely voluntary and doesn’t affect future opportunities.

I am currently not an AMBOSS user. Can I still sign up?

Yes, please do! While there are User Research Projects which focus specifically on existing users, we are also very interested in people who don’t use AMBOSS. We’d love to hear from your experience!

Please sign up here to the AMBOSS Research Panel (this won’t make you a user of the AMBOSS product).

How old do I have to be?

You have to be 18 years old in order to register and participate in this program.
