A group of tachyarrhythmias (i.e., heart rate > 100/min) that originate in the atria or AV node and are characterized by a wide QRS complex (> 120 ms) due to conduction abnormalities (e.g., bundle branch blocks, accessory pathways). Depending on the origin, the rhythm is regular or irregular.
