Menopause

The time at which a woman permanently stops menstruating, usually between 45-55 years of age. Diagnosed after 12 months of amenorrhea. Often associated with autonomic symptoms (e.g., hot flashes), mood disorders (e.g., irritability, insomnia, loss of libido), and atrophic changes due to decreased estrogen production (e.g., vulvovaginal atrophy).
