A branch of the left coronary artery that runs between the right and left ventricles on the anterior surface of the heart toward the cardiac apex. Supplies > 50% of the left ventricle (mainly the anterior portion), the anterior wall of the right ventricle, the anterior region of the interventricular septum, and the papillary muscles.
