A shoulder muscle that originates from the scapular spine, acromion, and lateral third of the clavicle and inserts onto the deltoid tuberosity on the anterolateral surface of the humeral shaft. Further divided into clavicular, acromial, and spinal portions. Primarilty abducts the arm but also aids in flexion and extension the arm. Innervated by the axillary nerve.
