Abbreviation: DHTR
An adverse reaction to blood transfusion that occurs days to weeks after the transfusion. Occurs in patients who were previously sensitized to specific red blood cell antigens. Mediated by the immune response upon reexposure to minor blood group antigens or D (Rh) antigens. Manifestations include fever, jaundice, and anemia.
