Coagulation disorders Coagulopathy, Bleeding disorder

A group of disorders characterized by defects in hemostasis, which leads to an increased susceptibility to bleeding. Caused either by platelet disorders (primary hemostasis defect), coagulation defects (secondary hemostasis defect), or a combination of both. Coagulation defects may be further divided into intrinsic or extrinsic defects according to the pathway of the coagulation cascade affected.
