Abbreviation: CRT
The time it takes for blood to return to distal capillaries after blanching (normally < 2 seconds). Assessed by applying pressure to the distal finger until it is white, releasing the pressure, and then observing for the return of normal color. Capillary refill time can be used to quickly assess peripheral perfusion and the adequacy of fluid resuscitation.
