A group of drugs that act on the distal convoluted tubules and inhibit the effects of aldosterone. Results in decreased Na⁺ reabsorption (and thus decreased H₂O retention) and inhibited H⁺ and K⁺ excretion. Can be steroidal (examples include spironolactone and eplerenone) or nonsteroidal (examples include finerenone and esaxerenone).
