Public Transportation

Using the KVB

Germany’s public transport systems are pretty user-friendly! The KVB in Cologne is no different. You can access a route planneron the KVB’s website. You can also view the network map on this page (the metro lines are shown on the top-left map called Bahnen in Köln).

Ticketing

There are a number of ticketing options for the KVB. You may decide on a single ride, a day ticket, or other ticket options depending on the length of your stay and preferences for getting around. If you buy the 4er Ticket, it will give you  4 separate single rides at a slightly discounted price. The day ticket can be bought for a single person, or for up to 5 people at a discounted rate. There is also a group ticket (Gruppenticket) available for groups of 10 or more. Weekly or monthly tickets are also available for purchase if you take public transit regularly.

Alternative Modes of Transportation

If public transport isn’t for you, other options to get around Cologne include taxi (we recommend mytaxi instead of Uber, as Uber just calls regular taxis and charges an extra fee), carsharing (DriveNowcar2go) or bicycle. The KVB also offers a bikesharingprogram!
