Are you looking for an excellent opportunity to expand your research experience and to complement your clinical and scientific training?

Apply for one of our two-year FELLOWSHIPS in CLINICAL CANCER RESEARCH for Clinician Scientists and Medical Scientist.

Fellows will be hosted at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) or the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg.


The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) recognizes the strong need for positions in which clinician scientists can develop their specific career profile . By offering research fellowships with dedicated research time, comprehensive training, and mentoring, the center will support you in acquiring broader research experience that will complement your clinical training.

The DKFZ Clinician Scientist Program fosters innovative translational research by strengthening the research profile of clinician scientists. The Program deepens the link between basic and clinical research, ensuring efficient transfer from bedside to bench and back.
The German Cancer Research Center aims to recruit highly talented physicians in training who wish to gain basic and translational cancer research experience in a world-class scientific setting. Research groups in DKFZ’s research programs provide access to cutting-edge research facilities and state-of-the-art labs.

When preparing your application, please compile the required documents in a single PDF document, which you will then upload during the online application process:

  • Curriculum vitae (incl. publication list and documentation of your clinical/research experience)
  • One-page motivation letter (incl. statement of your research interests)
  • Copy of degree certificates (originals, transcripts and translations if applicable)
  • Contact details of two references who are familiar with your work
